Mayor's Youth Leadership Council
Promoting Youth Engagement in Government and Good Citizenship
Mayor's Youth Council
The Mayor's Youth Leadership Council is the result of a partnership between the Smith County School District, Taylorsville High School, and the Town of Taylorsville. The program is open to any aspiring high-school student enrolled at Taylorsville High School, and Taylorsville High School alumni under the age of 21 enrolled at a Mississippi junior college or university.
The goal of the program is to promote youth involvement in government and teach students the process of how local government works, promote good citizenship through community improvement projects, and instill good moral values of patriotism and character. Students who are a part of the program are granted community service credits that they can use to meet the requirement for the Mississippi Scholars endorsement on their high-school diploma. |
